U.A.E. Free Trade Zones (F.T.Z.s)
Within each emirate, a restricted geographic area is known as a free trade zone. The establishment of duty-free zones in certain zones can also result from the collective agreement of multiple countries, creating free zones. Foreign investors find U.A.E. Free Trade Zones (F.T.Z.s) to be an appealing investment destination because to the absence of federal taxes, employment restrictions, and import-export limitations on company, as well as reduced bureaucratic procedures.
The United Arab Emirates is home to around 45 free zones. In light of this, TaxFillingindia is able to suggest an appropriate Free Zone based on business circumstances, office needs, and investment capacity.

Free Zone Limited Liability Company (FZ-LLC)
New companies can register a Free Zone Limited Liability Company as a distinct legal entity with the Dubai Development Authority. FZ-LLC may be established by either corporate or individual shareholders. Certain requirements are imposed by the UAE on who can own a FZ-LLC. Minimum capital requirements may also be imposed by the Dubai authorities, contingent on the size and industry of the company. Procedure to Register a U.A.E. Free Zone Company
To start a business in any U.A.E. Free Zone, you need to complete three main steps:
- Obtain a U.A.E. business license
- Get your U.A.E. Residence Visa
- Open a corporate bank account
Select a License Type and Business Activity
To operate in a U.A.E. free zone, a corporation needs to have a business licence. Every business licence has a one-year expiration date from the date of issuance and needs to be renewed every year.
The maximum number of activities that can be added to a single licence varies depending on the Free Zone. All Free Zones, however, are subject to the general rule that no commercial activity and service activity may coexist during a single appointment.
- Anything related to trading needs to be covered by a trading or commercial licence.
- A service licence is required in order to provide consultations or services.
- An industrial licence is necessary if you intend to create anything.
Select a Corporate Structure
The following options are possible for the company structure:
- A novel business with a single shareholder
- A subsidiary business that has one or more corporate shareholders
- A joint venture, with both corporate and individual investors
- A local or foreign company’s branch
Select Trade Name and Prepare Documents
Arrange the alternatives for the firm name in order of preference and compile the list of papers that the selected Free Zone needs.
The typical set of paperwork for forming a new corporation comprises the following:
- Passport
- Visa
- I.D. (if applicable)
- O.C. for U.A.E. Residents (for specific Free Zones)
- Proof of residential address
- Professional CV.
Sign Legal Documents for Company Incorporation
The company name, the selected business activity, and the suggested company structure are often approved at the outset.
A face-to-face meeting with a Free Zone official will be scheduled following the initial approval. The shareholders’ or U.B.O.s’ passports will be verified during the meeting, and documents such the Articles of Association (A.O.A.), Board Resolution, and Specimen Signature Form will be signed.
Establish Business Location
You must locate a commercial property for your business within the designated Free Zone in order to proceed to the last licencing stage. After deciding on a good option, you have to get the Ejari Certificate and sign a tenancy contract that will last at least a year. Based on what your licence will be granted with the address from your Tenancy Contract, both must be given to the Free Zone.
Depending on the type of facility (flexi-desk, business centre office, physical office, warehouse, retail space), additional documentation may be needed.
Collect Business License
All approvals are received, all payments are made, and the registration forms are signed. Other corporate paperwork will be issued with the licence.
At every point throughout the establishment of a business in a U.A.E. free zone, including the creation of business plans, help with acquiring U.A.E. resident permits, opening bank accounts, providing V.A.T. advice, accounting and bookkeeping, and full administrative support, IndiaFilings is available to support entrepreneurs.
